I love this tree and took several pictures as the gray day suddenly darkened. Glad this one shows the silhouette because in a flash it was night!
This tree has been across the street from me since I moved into my house in 1988. The tree, a pin oak, was massive even then and stood in an empty yard where the house on the left now stands. At that time, many of us were afraid the tree was dying but with care, expensive care, it survived. I planted a seedling from this tree in my backyard and it’s still skinny but two stories high. The pin oaks are big part of our neighborhood history.

This is such a special page. I feel right at home with you. I love trees- they have a deeply special appeal to me. The photo is perfect. Amazing that you have the tree from the tree! We have big oaks here amongst all the pines. Not sure what species though. They can grow to be enormous!
