Between these walls a little girl slept. Her bed, a water mattress framed out with drawers underneath. She used to rock herself to sleep with the rhythmic waves she would create.
Between these walls a little girl would play. She loved to create things from salvaged scraps of paper, cloth and what not. She played barbies and built her own doll house and read stacks of books on her window seat.
Between these walls a little girl dressed and readied herself for the day. Her dresser and mirror a creamy yellow patina, her favorite possessions displayed across the top. Ceramic dog figurines, a gifted doll, a piggy bank and a collection of polished rocks.
On these walls hung artwork her grandmother made and pictures the little girl had drawn. A large brown hound with big puppy eyes amongst them.
Now these walls belong to someone else but still these memories live on in the grown woman's heart. She shares some of this rooms best memories with her own little girl by passing down some of the things that once lived between these walls.
The creamy yellow dresser now displays a new set of favored possession. The brown hound with the big puppy eyes now adorns new walls. The gifted doll sits on the family bookshelf. Some toys have been saved and passed down along with a creative spirt and a happy soul just like the little girl who grew up between these walls.
