I wear her because I prefer our hearts squarely leveled and the space between us perfectly sized for the whispering of secrets and the exchanging of smiles. I wear her because something of the days when we shared one body returns to us, and we are a unit, watching and interacting from the same vantage point. With her head close to mine, I can see what she’s seeing – I can track her interest as it locks onto new objects and identify them for her, watch her roll their sounds around behind those eager eyes, move closer so her sticky wondering hands can touch and learn and name. I can bask in the glow of the smiles she receives, she can sit in on my conversations, we can watch ducks and count them and bounce our way home. I wear her because we are together, and isn’t that beautiful, and isn’t that everything?
I wear her because her sleepiest self is soothed only by the sound of my voice and my heart through the walls of my chest, ancient womb echoes that are the earliest thing she knows. I wear her to remind her where she belongs, how wanted she has always been, how wanted she will remain.
My daughter wore both her babies - front first and then back as they got older. I have even seen her wearing them both at once!! Even now, at 4, it is still the easiest way to sooth her eldest who has some difficulties coping with the world at large.
This is a lovely LO - the large body of text with varying fonts an sizing works perfectly!!
Oh, that is beautiful - both the quote and the photo. So touching! Beautiful job with the blending and masking and I love the way you used a couple of fonts for the journaling. Fabulous page!
@Sharon Evans Yep, she goes on my back now! I swear baby wearing has changed my life. We have something called Babywearing International around here, and its a super group. It's got chapters all over the country... Your daughter might like it!
wow wow and more wows to your gorgeous page!!!!! you look beautiful, so does she...and for me, who am old and Latina and we had this idea that the baby should stay with you, close, as closer as possible, this is amazing. Love the visuals of the page, the way you did the text, apart from the guidelines of the challenge....it is such a delight to loom at this, amazing journaling, amazing everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@MrsPeel Thank you!!!!! It does just make sense that they should be with you, especially that tiny. Also, I think the blending hides the lack of sleep under my eyes.
@Toria LOL at lack of sleep.... I know about that, though mine is 20 years old now ...she gives me lack of sleep for other reasons!!!!! LOL you are beautiful, lack of sleep or not. When my daughter was born, it was 96 and here in England there was a lot of court cases for Cot Death....people were buying different mattresses , spending tons of money in baby monitors.... I just kept her with me at all times, she was practically glued to my breast and wouldn't let me eat double handed for 4 months LOL but she turned into a very healthy, loving child, so I am sure yours will be as beautiful and great!!!!
@Toria My Bonnie has been in touch with that group - I think the ladies in the SF chapter helped her find a little Waldorf playgroup for her kids when she moved there from Australia.
