These photos of the city at night were “ruined” by odd reflections of my son using his laptop near the window. Since the laptop in the hotel room thing is pretty typical of any of our trips, I decided to embrace the reflections and include this aspect as part of the story. I enlarged one of the photos where you could most clearly see the reflection of his face as well as the laptop, and then used callouts to link in the reflections in the other shots. The journaling tells the story of why I took the photos, as well as explaining the reflections.
Journaling: The kids and I accompanied Mark to the 2014 TAOM convention in Fort Worth. We explored the shops, restaurants, and museums, and relaxed in our hotel room while Mark attended all the various convention events. The nighttime view from the room was mesmerizing. We really enjoyed gazing out the windows at the lights of the city, and trying to catch a glimpse of the giant umbrellas in Sundance Square in motion. I attempted a few photos of the amazing lights, but all of my shots to the southeast seemed to have these strange glowing billboards in them. Upon closer inspection, I found that they were actually reflections showing how Matthew spent most of his evenings in the room. Have laptop – will travel. 8 30 14
I love that you just embraced the imperfections, the black background, the way the bottom photo merges with it, the glowing lights word art, the annotation circles and journaling.
