This was more difficult than it SHOULD been, trying to find pockets or a pocket template that would conform to my 8.5x11 scrapping size AND have the correct size of pockets to meet the challenge. I ended up taking pockets from a Wibbens kit I bought and tinkering with them to make my own template. Once I had that, it was easy peasy.
JOURNALING: In one of the most exciting senior competitions in recent memory, NONE of the reigning champions was able to retain their crown. Maia and Alex Shibutani finally won dance gold in their 6th attempt, besting World Silver Medalists Madison Chock and Evan Bates by over 3 pts. The reigning champs had their step sequence rated level 3 and a combo-spin rated 2, costing them nearly 4.5 pts. and the crown. The pairs competition was all Tara Kayne and Danny O'Shea as the reigning bronze medalists captured gold with their "Take Me to Church" short and "Music of the Night" long programs to best reigning champs Alexa Scimeca and Chris Knierim by nearly 15 pts. The Men's competition was open with reigning champ Jason Brown out with an injury. With Nathan Chen landing 4 quads in his long program and Max Aaron landing 2, it looked like it would come down to the jumps. BUT, Adam Rippon, who fell on his attempt, racked up a component score more than 5 pts. ahead of Aaron's and even bested his technical by just over ½ pt. to sweep gold from the projected winner. Chen would finish third. All 4 of the contending ladies, reigning champ Ashley Wagner, leader after the short Polina Edmunds, former champ Gracie Gold, and Mirai Nagasu skated spectacular programs. But it was Gold's "Firebird" that set the ice ablaze and returned to her the title she first won in 2014.
