A New Chapter - Valorie Wibbens

I was really excited to see this challenge! This photo popped up on Facebook a few days ago & it got me thinking about scrapping my parents\' memories of growing up in Toronto.
This photo shows the intersection of Yonge & Bloor Sts. in Toronto, a busy & important location. The building on the corner was a high-end European-style clothing store. It has been there for 114 years but has been sold & is now being torn down. (In 114 years, no one in Toronto had thought to declare it a historical landmark until they started tearing it down!) My parents grew up & worked in Toronto for many years and they both are a treasure trove of memories & information about Toronto. My dad used to work nearby, so I decided to interview him about this photo & his memories of working nearby. I\'ve blurred most of it because it contains a lot of personal information.
What a shame about tearing down the building, but it spawned this amazing page for you, so I guess it isn't a total loss. Loved the parts of the interview that we can read, I used to live in downtown Toronto, so it was really interesting to hear about the older Bloor + Yonge area. And I'm so glad this challenge was so timely for you! Wonderful page!
