"C’était en 1996. Cette année, Mamie allait avoir 70 ans. On avait l’habitude de fêter les anniversaires en famille au restaurant mais cette fois-ci Mamie a eu une idée bien plus originale. De toute sa vie, elle n’avait jamais eu l’occasion d’aller sur l’île d’Ouessant. Elle s’est dit que si elle n’y allait pas à 70 ans, elle n’irait jamais. Et comme elle ne faisait jamais les choses à moitié, elle a décidé d’organiser un week-end sur l’île avec tous ses enfants et ses petits-enfants. Nous avons donc embarqué tous les 20 pour 2 jours à Ouessant. Au programme : marche, balades à vélo ou à cheval, baignade, pétanque, jeux de société et bien sûr le repas d’anniversaire au restaurant.
On logeait tous à l’auberge de jeunesse, quel bonheur de dormir avec les cousins ! C’était ça que Mamie aimait : voir ses enfants et petits-enfants passer du bon temps ensemble."

Translation :
"It was 1996. This year, Mamie was 70 years old. We used to celebrate family anniversaries at the restaurant but this time Mamie had a much more original idea. In all her life, she had never had the opportunity to go to the island of Ouessant. She figured that if she did not go to 70, she would never go. So she decided to organize a weekend on the island with all her children and grandchildren. So we embarked every 20 for 2 days in Ouessant. On the program: walking, cycling or horseback riding, swimming, games and of course the birthday meal at the restaurant.
We all stayed at the youth hostel, what a pleasure to sleep with the cousins! That's what Mamie liked: seeing her children and grandchildren have a good time together."
