So that’s me on the left with my sister in the middle & brother on the end. I don’t remember those curtains, although my mum probably sewed them (this is the house in ..., and I’m probably around 8 years old & the memories this photo conjures are more to do with this house, with it’s kitchen in the same khaki green as the polkadot tree & yellow minature roses over an arch on the front path, and the verandah and lush row of camelia's and bird cage hidden behind the pictured curtains) but I do remember this Xmas morning. Well I remember getting that Alf clip-on toy at least (I loved that TV show about the alien from Melmac back then -we had an Alf board game too) & the pink bike. My brother’s computer, the “Talking Lesson One” was so high-tech then & the thick hardcover books with various fairytales my sister and I would get each year from an English teacher from Dad’s school. The tree itself was inherited from mum’s family but was in reality a very sparse sad plastic thing, but was sentimental to her and covered in holy cards and the obligatory angel on top & was with us for several more years.
Great job of journaling..love all the references to Alf. I like that row of trees that tie into your recollections of Christmas. Thanks for taking the heritage challenge!!
