Oh yum!!! This looks delicious and what a terrific tradition for New Years! I love the red pot color pop and the sweet wooden heart! I really like the tradition of that re financial security in the new year.. the south here in the US does black eyed peas, and I remember my Mom & Aunt ate herring in sour cream. Thank you! It is funny that you mention herring... my family also does herring... 12 pieces between 11:59pm and midnight, one for reach month. I hate herring... but I still do it. One year I choked on the 7th piece. That year I had a big car bill in July... haha. My mom is nice on me, she finds me the smallest pieces to have. My husband is allergic to fish, so he gets his choice of 12 grapes or 12 green olives.

I tried herring once, not a fan which is why it was only my Mom eating it when I grew up as Dad & my brother didn't like either! Once my Dad moved to Florida he would make the Black Eyed Peas for the Moose lodge.. anyway that is wild re the 7th piece... Best wishes in 2026!
