Journaling (187 words):
Sometimes when I think about connecting with myself, I think about nature first - how I feel when I'm hiking in the mountains, swimming in the sea or walking around a lake. Sometimes, my thoughts jump to the dance floor - is that where I feel most myself, connecting to a dance partner, my body movement, the atmosphere around me ... But no. It's neither dancing nor nature.
It's always music.
It's when I hear the perfect piece of music at the perfect time. It's when I let a song really, truly ground me. It's when I allow the chords to flow through me, when I open my chest to the music and let myself breathe freely through the harmonies. That's when I remember who I am, how I'm shaped by everything that's ever happened to me - how I've been built up, not worn down, by time and life and movement and memories. That's when I truly feel my strength. That's when I sink down through all the layers of myself, deeper and deeper, connecting to my true values. It's the music that connects me to myself, always the music.
