In 2019, for MOC7, I created Part One of “The Lyrics.” These were individual song verses that spoke to me in some way. Objectively, they all had to do with love. Those lyrics still speak to me. I haven’t outgrown them.
Here I am, three years later, documenting my Part Two for another MOC. This is the third page I’ve done this month related to song lyrics. It wasn’t intentional. I suppose they’re just what has been on my mind.
Reading through what I’ve documented, I realize they are no longer related to love. Instead, they deal with loss and pain, the swirling thoughts that often trouble my sleep, or memories that seem to fade and grow more distant as the years go by. Perhaps this is a byproduct of getting older. I’ll be interested to see what will be on my mind in another few years for Part Three.
