Relation between the photos: we were not supposed to take photos in these tombs or tempels... but a very good guide and some baksheesh did the trick.
EDIT: you don't have to worry @Mrs Peel, no flash was used to take these photos!
we went to Egypt, 2 days in Cairo, then a cruise on the Nile 7 days, 3 days in Luxor.... was probably one of my most treasured trips..... we went in 95, I was pregnant with Sarita 5 month.... great memories!!!
The problem with taking photos in places like this is that flash and differences in lightning wear out the 5000 years materials with which they were made...I learned a lot about sites and museums law when I did Tourism Uni to be a tour guide in Brazil, but anyway, the page Is gorgeous and you just brought back to mind some amazing memories!!!!!
Thank you so much for playing with us!!!
@MrsPeel, we never take photos with flash... but it is not so much the flashlight that hurts the colours, it is the sunlight. That is why the colours in the tombs are always better than in the temples.
None of these photos is taken with flash, and the one from Abu Simbel is taken during the wintersolstice, when the light reaches the inner temple (everybody has to sit down). In the other tombs there were lights (some very harsh, as you can see in the photo with the yellow colour)
Abu Simbel was the one place I would have loved to get a photo or two in, we always said with Sarita, my daughter, that when we have money (one day, whenever that will be LOL) we need to go together, she loves everything about the history and as she was in my belly when I was there, she needs to see it as a young adult now.... lets hope this pandemic gives us a break, first we need to travel even more hours to see the family, but I am in so much need of a trip, even if it is to Paris two hours in the train!!!!
