Journal says:
Good boy, Max! Ellie and Zach welcomed their new puppy just weeks after their wedding in 2019 and trained him into a loveable and obedient dog. He welcomed baby Ruth 8 months later with so much acceptance and gentleness and loved getting attention from her, even if that meant she was crawling over or hugging his large frame. Max brought peace to Ellie as she was around the house during the workdays while Zach was away, barking to let her know when anyone came to the door or delivered packages. He always got rambunctious and rowdy when Zach came home from work at the end of the day. Max loved scraps that fell from the table and peanut butter. He would come running anytime someone filled a glass or water bottle with ice cubes from the dispenser on the refrigerator door.
In June 2021, Max had a severe seizure and fell down the basement stairs. Ellie was careful to approach him in his dazed state after it stopped. He was not himself for about 8 hours after each episode, but bounced back to normal after that. After some research, they decided to eliminate a vitamin supplement they had recently started and had great success. Until Thanksgiving, he had been free of seizures, but then they started occurring every 5 or 6 hours and he was not returning to his normal, peaceful self.
From Ellie's Instagram after Thanksgiving.

We love you Max. You impacted our family so much. I can’t believe you are gone.

A week ago Zach and I made a really hard decision to put our sweet Max to sleep. He started having seizures again and they were getting closer together and lasting longer every time he had them. We were able to get him medication and he continued to have them. We are so incredibly heartbroken and miss him so much. We really believe this was the best thing we could have done for him and that he is in heaven with Jesus but it doesn’t make this any easier and it still hurts so much.

Ah, this brought tears to my eyes. What a special pet he was to this family and I'm sure they made the right decision for him. Love the large frame and all the cute photos of Ellie and Max.

What a sweet tribute to Max, and I am so sorry for your family's loss. Max looks so cute and so faithful. what a darling pup. It is so very hard to make that decision, and know they did what was best for Max. I love how you have scrapped this, with all the sweet photos, and I am so glad there are so many wonderful memories of your faithful companion Max.

Thank you for sharing and playing along with MOC day 26 Rememberance/Tribute challenge. Well done!
