The Baiyoke Tower I (or Baiyoke Hotel) is a very iconic building in Bangkok. It was completed in 1987 and was the tallest building in Thailand until 1993. Each floor is painted a different color, earning its nickname: the "Rainbow Building”. Some of the best market shopping in the city can be found at the base of the hotel. When we lived in Bangkok, my dad’s office was just a few blocks away, so this building is always a familiar and welcoming sight for me.
