Journaling reads:
The thumbnail images are digital scans of my first foray into scrapbooking. In 1998, after graduating from college, I took a 3 week trip to England. During the trip I took notes about each day, event, thoughts, conversations and interactions that occurred. I kept any ticket stub that I could and/or any memorabilia that landed in my hands. Additionally, I came home with 11 rolls of film to develop. With all of that - I wanted some way to document the trip so I could share it with family and friends. That’s when I became a scrapper.
I started with traditional (paper) scrapping and quickly amassed a ton of supplies, tools and skills. Once the scrapbooking industry gained steam (think Archivers stores) I was inspired by brilliant layouts that I saw both online (Scrapbook.com) and in magazines – I wanted to be creative like that too!
After a few years of paper crafting I happened upon Shutterfly and learned that I can make pages using digital content and make as many mistakes as I want. I also realized that I can re-use my content – cost savings right there! I fell for digital scrapping HARD!
I made a photobook through Shutterfly and while it wasn’t very good, it was easier than paper crafting. One thing I love about digital scrapping is I can take it anywhere that I have my computer. I don’t have to lug around a suitcase, or totes, filled with supplies and pictures.
Scrapping is a creative outlet for me – it’s somebody that nobody else in my family does and it provides a calming effect on me. I Love it!
