Journalling reads:
Dear 18 year old self,
You have just started University and are excited about the joys of finding your wings. Keep on living and enjoying life to the fullest. Stay with sport and keep eating well whether with or without meat. Work in your spare time to save money to travel and travel whenever and wherever your heart desires. I know you will take many risks which only the young have the courage and vivacity to do. (This I know you will do.)

Don't worry about not having a boyfriend. There is plenty of time for that in the future. There is no need to be "in a group", you are an individual so celebrate your individuality. Friends are precious and I have lost contact with many friends so stay in contact with those special people no matter how hard it is to do with frequent moves and none of the communication means we have today.

You are intuitive so keep listening to that inner voice. If something feels not quite right then it probably isn't. Your intuition will prove correct on many occasions and may save you from wrong decisions I made that have caused so much heartache both for me and others.

Don't believe the saying that "love conquers all" as it doesn't. You cannot change others with your love. No matter how much you try to change to accommodate another person, they will only change if they want to and are prepared to do the work themselves. Also do not believe the saying "bloom where you are planted". If you are sitting in a place that is dangerous or toxic move out. Do not bend to the cries of your girls as you alone are the best judge of when to move. Go to a quiet place and meditate on what needs to be done. Make a firm decision and just do it. I did in the end but should have done it sooner.

Which brings me to learning to calm your soul to listen to your voice. The world is a very noisy place and will get much noisier as you get older. You need to learn and keep up a meditation practice from now and into the future. If you find you still need medication, go for it. This I am only just learning now.

And I hope that with this advice you may be able to avoid or better navigate the tidal wave of fear, pain, depression and misery that will roll over you and your children. But you are stronger than you could ever imagine and will be able to live through and with it.

And lastly, not necessarily now but if you get some time, do some research into domestic violence (physical and MENTAL), Schizophrenia, Depression, OCD, Autism in females and PTSD. You will need the knowledge.

Don't forget to travel and take breaks whenever you can. You are amazing and ever so strong. And remember even on the darkest night you still might see a star.

Love Me xxx
