The Nene bird, or Hawaiian Goose, is native to the Hawaiian Islands and can mostly be found at high elevations. We found them atop Haleakala, the volcano on Maui. This little cutie posed for me. There are highway signs all along the road leading up Haleakala that say ‘Nene Crossing. There were tons of them running and hopping along.
