Journaling reads:
February 1995 - Mom got remarried and we moved 2 hours south to Green Bay where I started a new middle school. It was quite an adjustment for me as there were 900 kids in this school whereas I was used to about 60 in my previous school.
There was a lot of hustle and bustle among the hallways yet a young boy with a locker next to mine still managed to catch my eye. He was so handsome but the moment he opened his mouth (and not at me) I knew that it was never going to happen. He was so loud and energetic, surrounded by friends all the time - quite the contrast to myself. I was shy, quiet and preferred the company of just one or two good friends rather than be amongst the crowd.
Only 3 months later we moved back up north as the city life was not for my mom, life moved on and I forgot about the boy. Until....
June 2005 - I had grown up and flew the nest, landing back in Green Bay while I attended UWGB. I had recently started dating Nathan and was at his parents house for an afternoon at the pool when I walked through the downstairs hallway to use the bathroom. Lo and behold, on the wall was this photograph of Nathan, his mom and step-dad and his older brother. My jaw dropped! It was the boy from my middle school 10 years ago! I recognized his face immediately as the photo would have been taken close to the same time frame. I had never known his name but it make sense now. His locker was next to mine as we were sorted alphabetically - me being H, him being K.
I laugh to myself because there are over 100K people in Green Bay and somehow I manage
to meet the only brother of this boy from my past. In the end I won though because I got the brother with the looks AND the perfectly. quiet, reserved, introverted personality to fit mine like a puzzle piece!
