I do appreciate technology, but I definitely have a love/hate relationship with it. I hate that I feel constantly tied to something and being constantly connected. But, it affords me the opportunity to enjoy my hobby (scrapping) and living so far from family, it is a convenient way to keep in touch and I feel we don't miss as much as we would without it. It's about balance, I suppose. Love this page and your thoughts. I'm nervous about this challenge, as I'm not sure what to scrap without a photo. You've done a beautiful job with it!
@mommy2boyz Definitely we need to find a balance.
I don't usually do photoless layouts because scrapbooking, for me, is for photos. However, I do a lot of blogging and journaling so it was easy to just go find something I'd already written. Of course, on my blog there is a photo associated with this post.
@mommy2boyz Jordan....scrap a page that answers Michele's page here!!!! I was actually coming to say something similar..... and, as I am MUCH MUCH older than you girls.....I have a lot of experience on life without devices....
First of all, Michele... gorgeous page, gorgeous visually & amazing journaling. I do agree with you to a certain point.... but I can see/feel/ intuition also shows me you are a balanced, healthy person...... unfortunately....there are many many people in the world who do not answer toi that description....
The internet, tablets, phones...like everything in life, has good side and bad side.
There is a side of internet like you mention: I live 14000 kilometers from my family and life time friends. I have reconnected with people I never thought I woulod see again...through Facebook, which so many people despise.
I am disabled and 80% of my time bed bound....the internet, scrapping, this community...saved me from insanity. Literally.
Now I see the way most teens (at least in this country) make use of their smart phones and it makes me cringe.
I saw a couple of years ago one of my neighbors giving her son (6 years old) an iPhone. She said she upgraded hers so she gave her old one to him.
UI wont carry on, but I have this thing with my own daughter.
We watch stuff on TV... I have to make her turn of the iPhone ...or I would go mad.
As Jen well said: balance is the word..... I know I am so glad that I was able to give her a life start climbing trees and running bare feet until she was almost 6 in a sea side village with no much progress.... and she also counts that on her blessings.... so yes, I have seen LOTS of people who aren't as balanced as you & your family are, lots of families wrecked because of devices...not specifically p[hones but the net in general. Anyway, I talk too much, as I said in some thread...just tell me to shut up!!!!!!!! LOL love love the page and your journaling makes very good points , am so glad you shared this!!!!!! (and to have you in the family!!!!!!)
I agree with what has been mentioned above. It is a about balance. Not that I have been successful in finding a good balance yet, but I do credit social media for some positive things. The page is fabulously done and you did a great job of a photo less page .
