Journaling: When Scott ran his first marathon he had a pretty tough time of it. He started out too fast and didn’t know much about salt replacement at the time so had some severe muscle cramping. He didn’t meet his goal time but he finished. As we visited afterwards he was already talking about “next time” and what he would do differently. Then he discovered the ultra marathon which is basically any race over marathon length. He talked me into giving racing a try and we ran a half marathon together the next year, 2005. We learned that I don’t do so well in the heat either. I get very crabby in fact. Scott was a great sport to run with me even though I wasn’t always great company and can’t run nearly as fast as he can. Fast forward to 2009 after a move to Virginia and back to Utah and Scott talked me into my first ultra marathon in Goblin Valley - 32Miles! He had run it before and we spent several months training. Again he was such a good sport to stay with me the whole race finishing hours after he would of if he had run his own race and not kept pace with mine. I felt a great sense of accomplishment. My husband, my best friend.
