Journaling:
We are happy to have lived in Japan for almost 9 years and our family has fond memories that we will cherish forever. It's hard to leave a place that we called our home. My daughters are used to a lot of things here and they enjoy the food so much, not to mention the cleanliness everywhere you go and the safety. We will never forget this place and I can only hope that we will be back here or my husband will be relocated here again for work.
We are excited to live in a new place and experience new food and culture. I know it would take time to get used to the place, I am hoping that the transition will be smooth. We've experienced living in the place during the winter break, it was colder than Tokyo and we all got sick. We are happy about the package that my husband got from his new employer.
Highlights of my recent trip to the land of Kimchi:
1. Most of them speak English, I tried talking to anyone and they understand me and when I say hello to a little girl, she answered me back with "Hi". Even a taxi driver can understand simple English.
2. Most of the malls close at 12 midnight. Most of the products have English words and you can easily find what you are looking for because it has English translations on every stall.
3. They have wide roads and taxis are cheap compared to Japan. But you have to open and close the doors by yourself, one thing that I am spoiled with in Japan.
4. Everything in Japan is automatic. But in South Korea, not that much.
5. Toilets are not as clean as in Japan. You have to throw your tissue in the trash bin or else it clogs. I have to remind myself because in Japan, you have to throw it in the toilet bowl. No spray to clean the toilet seat, most of the time it's by tissue, no bidet in public toilets too.
6. I was shocked to see how expensive the foreign goodies there even Uniqlo is 3 times the price in Japan. They also have 10% VAT. I went to Balenciaga and was shocked that the price is much more expensive than Japan.
9. Koreans are more cheerful though than the Japanese. I can say that they are more like Filipinos, they love kids. They are helpful, they say what they want to say. Just like in Japan most of the elderly people work as a cleaning lady, in the groceries, toilets and we've seen old man taxi drivers.
10. You can never compare Japan transportation. Very efficient and fast.
