Summertime in Hattem, The Netherlands. It becomes a tradition to go bike and enjoy an afternoon (or 2,3,4) at Ijscowd. First we go pet the cows, look at the newborns. Give some food to the animals. We always talk with the owners, Ari loves to tell about the animals, the life on the farm and joke with the kids. They love it when Belgian people visit them. The boys play with all the fun bikes and cars and Jorre here tried a one wheel car and decides he wanted to learn (back home he really went to a circusschool and learned to read one!)

Fun fact: Ijscowd isn't a Dutch word. It's IJskoud (Ice-Cold), but because this really is a cow farm they made up this name. We love it!

It's history: First Wilhelmien and Ari had a pig farm and then changed to cows and decides to start selling ice cream from the milk of their own milk. Now their kids help at the farm and in the shop.
You also can have kids parties, eat really good pancakes (crepes) and in their store they have cheese and all kind of food and drinks made by other farms nearby. In 2019 Ijscowd was 20 years! They did so much fun things to celebrate.

No visite is complete without playing with Boomer, the Farm dog. (First time our kids were so afraid, now the hug him the whole time!)

When the weather is good it's allso a start place where hot air balloons go in the air. Still waiting to see that happen!

One time we brought the whole Belgian Family with us to Hattem (for my husbands 50th birthday) and we took them al to Ijscowd for some fun and ice cream.

We love it and no vacation to The Netherlands is complete without a visite!

I love a layout with lots of photos -- you nailed this one! Just the right amount of embellishment and even fit in lots of journaling!
