Today is the 21st January 2024 and I am taking a look back at this week 12 years ago.
Back in that year I was taking a photo each day and creating a digital page each week using
those photos. In January there used to be music in 3 local parks each Sunday so on the 15th
we planned to attend but the weather the night before was bad so the concert in Laurel Bank
Park was cancelled. We still went to the park and enjoyed a picnic lunch. The weather was bad
the next two days so on the 17th the washing went into the dryer. This dryer was still in use in
2022 making it nearly 40 years old but on 28th February 2022 when our home was flooded the
clothes dryer was wrecked.
At this time (2012) my mother was slowly dying in the Nursing Home we had to move her to late
2010. The care staff asked me to alter her petticoats to have an opening down the back.
She was determined to still wear a petticoat when they dressed her. This is why my photo on
the 18th was my overlocker. The following day was our usual weekly day to visit my mother at the
Karinya Nursing home in Laidley which was a drive of three quarters of an hour away. Before
visiting my Mum, we had lunch at the Eagle Rock Cafe. It was this day that Ken made the
decision he would not join me in seeing my mother as he wanted to remember her as she had
been. Mum was starting to not communicate so I spent my visit reading to her.
Back then Ken was as always enjoying growing vegetables so on the 20th I took a photo of the
pumpkin plants starting to emerge. We both used to enjoy walking to our local bakery and on
the 21st I had walked there to buy some white bread ready for my older sister and her husband
coming to visit with Bob only eating white bread.
I did enjoy having this trip down memory lane
