Life is stressful. There is no doubt about that. Whenever I am feeling down or need some time to connect with myself, there is nothing better than getting outside in the fresh air & sunshine and getting my hands dirty working in my garden. I love to grow all kinds of flowers from perennials that were given to me by family, to annuals that I grow from seeds saved year to year or bought at the local greenhouse. I like the rewards of growing my own vegetables, too. I love to try new plants, but always keep my tried and true favorites around too. When I am outside and the sun is warming my shoulders and the only sounds are the birds chirping, I am at peace. I love the days when there is a gentle breeze blowing, it's not too hot, the sky is bright blue, and I can spend all day tending my plants and admiring their beauty. Even pulling weeds is a mindless chore that helps clear my mind with its rhythmic exercise. No matter how I am feeling, my plants and my garden are always there to brighten my day. I guess you could say, gardening feeds my soul.
