Journaling:
I was around ten years old when my family drove from Texas to California to visit my grandmother. She usually flew to visit us, but this time we drove to her house. We had a great visit.
She had this awesome desk in her living room. She told me that it was a Secretary Desk. I told her that I loved it.
That was the only time that I was in her house.
When I was 32 years old, she came to visit for Christmas. During her visit she got very ill and was hospitalized. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and given a few months to live. My parents moved her to a nearby nursing facility. They hired someone to move her belongings to Tulsa, where my parents were living.
She told my dad to give me her secretary desk because I loved it. I was amazed that she remembered that I told her that I loved it. That conversation took place at least two decades previous.
Grandma died and took her place in heaven a few months later. She was almost 91 years old. She led a wonderful life.
My parents brought the desk to me in Texas and I have always loved it.
My daughter who is now 32, also loves it. She used it for her homeschool desk when she was younger. I have told her that she can have it whenever she is ready.
Grandma loved the desk. Now I have it in my home. Kathryn will have it next.
