My dearest Doodle bug, you are amazing. You have grown from the youngest of our family to an beautiful bold young woman in the last year. As you push forward, barriers collapse, paradigms shatter. There is nothing you can't overcome or battle.
This past year has been a struggle for you. Going from elementary school to middle school, dealing with covid 19 and trying to find your place in this world. It hasn't been easy at all.
Today while we were having dinner and it was just the two of us, I had a feeling you wanted to tell me something. We have always been close and I have always made it known you could come to me with anything. Yet you seemed held back and lost. Finally you spoke. "Mom I think I like girls, maybe more than boys." Ok. You are only twelve, but you were so sure of yourself. You bit your lip as a tear rolled down your eye. I gave you a hug and smiled.
You see my dearest Asia, I don't care who you love. As long as they make you happy. Black, white, girl or boy.. or even alien. Love is love. You deserve all the happiness that love has to offer. And I will never love you less for following your heart.
As you told me how you felt you may be bi-sexual and how you find both girls and boys attractive. I listened. You told me about a girl you like. I listened. I made it clear no matter what you decide, I love you so. You will always be my baby girl. My Doodle.
