What a wonderful story of friendship and faith! Great storytelling and page design! Love this!!
Also - thank you for your comment and I'm sorry you lost your friend to cervical cancer - and yes you are right, this was preventable with screening. So sad how fear of services or lack of access to healthcare or prioritizing ourselves delays care. (((hugs)))

Thanks so much, Krista! Part of my daughter's dissertation discussed a correlation between obesity (actual or self-labeled) and avoidance of gynecology appointments. It's sooooo sad. Women are made to feel bad about weight issues when they go in for other things, so they don't take care of the routine screenings due to shame or self-consciousness. And you're right other factors like access and life keeping women so busy all contribute.

The double edged sword of patient feels awful and avoiding appointments by provider saying something vs. provider doesn't say anything and is marked down by and not paid appropriately by insurance companies/Medicare/Medicaid for not addressing the problem of the elevated BMI. And provider is avoiding doing their job of health promotion by avoiding the difficult conversation... it's so difficult. I wish they let providers decide based on the patient. There are some patients that are open to the discussion and some it will not go well no matter what and it degrades the patient provider relationship.
