I often wonder if Humans will make it 'till the end of Earth. The Sun will expand and become a Red Star. It is estimated the Sun is middle-aged. This means it has ~ 5 billion more years before it becomes a Red Giant. When it does become a Red Giant, the Earth will not exist as it does today. Actually, the Earth will undo massive change as the Sun slowing evolves into a Red Star - likely making the Earth inhospitable to Humans. When the Sun becomes a Red Star, IF Earth survives, it will be more like a Venus (it is possible the Sun grows large enough to swallow Earth).
Knowing what we know, I do not understand why humans do not put more effort into a global harmony - an Earth where all cultures work towards a greater good - learning how to explore space and colonize potential hospitable moons or other planets. It is true that Earth is very special. We are on the Goldilocks of planets...the right distance from our star, the right geomagnetic field, the tilt which produces seasons.
As far as we know, there is no place like home. IF humans can make it 'till the end of Earth, the survival of our species requires us to leave home.
