The story of a memorable but not great meal in NYC this Christmas. Journaling:
I arrived in New York all prepared with my Happy Cow app, which lists vegan, vegetarian, and vegetarian-friendly restaurants. Ironically, Jon did better looking for vegan places on Google than I did with my app. I chose this place because it had both vegan and non-vegan food, and because I was thrilled with the idea of vegan Italian, something I don’t get very often. Sadly, the food was not terribly good, the ambience was very old school (I couldn’t decide if the candle fountains were horrifying or intriguing) and the service wasn’t great. I guess that’s what I get for not reading reviews before I choose a destination. They had vegan desserts, which were good, but the (vegan) ravioli Sophie ordered, the only ravioli on the menu, was weird and inedible. My seitan was okay, the others’ meals were okay... None were great. Kind of a dissapointing first meal in Manhattan.
