Joe's-Easter-Egg-Hunt-Riddle-#10
KAPOH, Mar 16, 2018
Description:
Every year since 2006, our local newspaper has conducted a digital Easter egg hunt. Columnist Joe Blundo creates 10 riddles describing locations in and around Franklin Co. OH where eggs have been digitally "hidden." Participants figure out the clues and, just before Easter, send their answers to the newspaper. A winner is drawn from all of the correct answers and given a small prize. Each year, my sister and I have worked on figuring out the clues and, when she visits in the summer, have gone to the places and taken pictures. It has been such a lot of fun and we have learned so much about the amazing attractions in and around the city in which we grew up. I am doing layouts to commemorate each of these egg hunts. This is riddle #10 from 2015

JOURNALING:
Joe's Easter Egg Hunt
Riddle #10
The workers passing through these gates
Make the things that link the freights,
Including one who’d prove to be
Progenitor of 43,
Find a high-temp place that holds
An egg amid its melts and molds

Murray-Hayden Foundry, an iron farm implement company switched to making iron railroad car couplers, went through several name changes, switched to steel, and became Buckeye Steel Castings. In 1901, Samuel Prescott Bush became general manager of the company which was controlled by Frank Rockefeller, brother of oil magnate John. When Rockefeller left the business in 1908, Bush took over as president and remained in that position until 1928. As a top industrialist in the country, he wielded political influence in DC. Bush had an advanced business outlook for his day and implemented many modern management techniques as well as an unusually generous working environment. He was the progenitor of Presidents George H.W. and George W. Bush. After a bankruptcy at the first part of this century, an investment group reopened the business as Columbus Steel Castings.

ANSWER: Columbus Steel Castings, 2211 Parsons Ave.
