Journal : I went to another shinto shrine last Sunday because hubby had his first iaido training of the year there and I thought I’d go say hello and take pictures of the beautiful shrine. I saw volunteers cleaning up the trees of the new year fortune slips (a priest blessed the used new year decorations and good luck charms that evening). I had already bought one last week but I couldn’t resist testing my luck again. I got the same “small luck”. It’s time I accept that it is all I can get this year lol.
As I was trying to read my fortune’ s slip, one of the volunteer started to talk to me and we ended up talking about Japanese culture, travel, even war, and when I told him my husband’s was doing iaido nearby he was very proud to tell me he had a stunning Japanese sword (katana) made and it was in exhibit in the region. He said he was into the history of sword making and craftmenship.
Even if I just barely met that man, I felt we had a similar connection to Japanese culture, me with hubby’s hobby and him with his passion.
I need to go and see his sword before the exhibit ends so that next time we meet I can tell him I did.
