JOURNALING: Vincent Van Gogh painted this bouquet of roses while recovering at a private asylum. The roses originally were pink, but the red pigment he used has faded, only traces of the original color petals can be seen. For Van Gogh, “Roses” represented a renewed optimism corresponding to his improved mental health and the spring season. This painting was part of “Through Vincent’s Eyes: Van Gogh and His Sources”, an exhibit at the Columbus Museum of Art. 12/19/21
