January 20: Storytelling

My Great great grandfather
William Timothy Wade was the father
of my great grandma Aura. who I knew
growing up. She was my first best friend
She was born in 1890, and me in 1970,
We both loved old things and
she would show me items that
belonged to her family. She put
tape labels on each item Many
years after her death I was given
this handmade shelf that Auras
father had made from a slat off
the family barn. I cherish this
shelf and did show my own kids
the label that is still on the
back in Auras writing. I hope it
will be passed on to future
generations and cherished
as something made with the
hands of a man who was born
during the Civil war!
