Yes, hindsight is 20/20 but it's hard to know what the right thing to do is at the moment. A person does not want to make the wrong decision and then suffer the consequences nor do they want to be so indecisive that they are too afraid to make any decisions!
We had a car that we had owned for a long time. We totally pad the car off and were enjoying years of being car payment free. In the beginning, it was great but a few years later the car repairs started and became very expensive. The repairs become so frequent that we had to decide to get another car or do some pretty extensive repair work. The car's mileage was very high and we were afraid of the car totally breaking down. Our son was no longer a little boy and did not fit in the backseat anymore either! My husband got relocated to manage an hour away so we now needed to make a decision, fast! With an older car there are issues of things being broken such as our CD player went out, the radio was really bad and the heat was iffy. We had to have a vehicle that we knew would be good for these long commutes. We just wanted to get in a vehicle and have the necessities plus a nice satellite radio. Taking on a payment would be a bit hard but worth it. We went to a dealer my husband's mother knew, thinking we would have a pretty high payment. We traded in the old car and got a decent payment on an SUV (our first!) and now have a dependable vehicle, which we love!!
I'm so glad you found something at a not to scary price! Sometimes we have to make upgrades as much as we wish things were just always reliable. Great LO!
