January-14---Friendships---New-Friends

Description
JOURNALING: Who would believe that a chance meeting during a production at the Ohio Theatre would result in a new friendship. Here is the story.

My sister and I have season tickets for “Broadway in Columbus” presentations. The third offering this season was “Moulin Rouge”. Neither of us knew very much about this musical and my sister wasn’t all that eager to go. I, however, firmly believe that one of the benefits and joys of having season tickets is you get to experience plays and musicals that you might otherwise pass up. So, we planned to go to the Sunday, January 7 matinee.

I had intended to start going back to church this year and my first foray was to be January 7. My chosen church was about 20 minutes west of where I live. I was concerned about their lack of parking and, when I discovered that the play began at 1 pm instead of 2 pm as I originally thought, I determined there wasn’t enough time to do both – “Broadway” won.

During the intermission, the man sitting next to me leaned across and made a comment to my sister about her cane that had a Columbus Crew decal on it. Well, mention the “Crew” and my sister is “all in”. The three of us started talking. At one point I leaned back and smiled at his wife so we started talking too. We discovered we had a lot of things in common with this couple. She showed me pictures of her family on her phone and I asked about one of them obviously taken at a church. Turns out it was an Episcopal Church about 20 minutes east of where I live. She invited me to attend the following week.

I went to St. Andrews Episcopal Church today. My “theatre seat-mate” from last week invited me to sit with her (husband was singing in the choir) and introduced me to many of the other congregants. This chance meeting in a theatre has resulted in what I believe will be new friendships going forward.

Very sweet story about how all of the elements came together to take you to a new church home. Perfect kits to use to highlight the journaling.
