“My best friend's name is Mary, we met when she and her family moved to live on the same street where my parents had their house. My mother had the habit of welcoming every new neighbor to the street, and for this she usually baked some cookies that she placed on a new plate which she decorated in the form of a gift with a transparent cellophane plastic and a ribbon. Luckily she got along very well with Mary's mother, to the point of going shopping together every week, soon we started attending their celebrations, and our families began vacationing together, spending Christmas and New Year's together as well. Our families supported each other like a real family would. The friendship of our mothers was one of the deepest I have seen, for more than 35 years they supported each other until 2018, when Mary's mother sadly passed away, however the friendship between Mary and I has remained throughout time, even though we got married and moved to live in places far from each other. Fortunately, technology exists, so we meet in front of the computer one day at the end of the week, we do a video conference while we have coffee together chatting about various topics. During the lockdown due to Covid, we agreed on the menu, and with the help of the tablets we enjoyed a family meal like we used to do when we were children.”
