When the time came for Faith to leave the Guangzhou Adoption Center with us, it was a heartbreaking, life-changing moment. She was terrified. She cried, she kicked, she wailed, she dead-weighted her body. Onllookers stared silently as we practically pulled her onto the elevator and out of the building. I told Todd he needed to pick her up (so not to “fight” with her) and he did. She finally relented to the inevitable and let him carry her, but her face told the her story of fear, grief, and despair. She couldn’t know how much we wanted to comfort her. Only time would ease her pain. It was a bittersweet day, one none of us will ever forget.
