=============== Journaling: Thanksgiving 1989...It was when Mom was sick with LC and Lori V had joined us in FL. We cooked the turkey correctly and the oven was fine too, however the bottom never cooked regardless how long it was in the oven. We finally just ate the top portion that was cooked with our side dishes. Dad threw out the rest of the turkey and then kept going to the garbage can and opened the lid and made a :gobble” sound! We could not contain ourselves and kept laughing as it was so nutty and my poor Mom was saying “this is my last Thanksgiving” (it was) and she was annoyed with us laughing. Come to find out when Dad went back to work, his whole office had the same issue! Apparently the Turkey everyone got must have had an issue. No one ever figured out if the turkeys were thawed and re frozen or what but when Dad came home and told us, it was even funnier. Thanksgiving was lighter because of this. It happens..no one knows why, but for us it added the levity we all needed knowing Mom was not going to be with us much longer. We still remember the raw turkey and laugh!
Well, what an odd thing to happen to a turkey! I'm glad you have a pleasant shared memory from that day. I love the way you treated the photo of the turkey...it looks perfectly edible there!
What a strange thing to happen and then to happen to so many people at the same time. Love your storytelling, and love the masked photo. I also like how you layered the journaling spots. Wonderful!
Awesome idea for a challenge, I love the photo blend on the turkey and the journaled paper layers. It's a bittersweet story told with love and laughter and everything I adore about this hobby!
