Our son interviewed his great grandmother via phone for one of the requirements for his Genealogy Merit Badge. I took a couple of photos during the call and also included the questions he asked along with her answers. Thankfully, I videotaped a portion of it so some of the journaling is word for word what she told him that day.
I'm working on an album for my son of all his BSA experiences - camping, merit badges, ranks, etc. This might be my favorite simply because it's such a special experience. She was so touched by the call, she followed up with a handwritten letter a few days later. I plan to scan and add it to the book as well.
love how you have displayed this with the interview and candids side by side - i'm sure he was blown away and couldn't imagine never having a tv or phone til after he's married! (i wonder how our kids would ever exist without being bored in that world?! i will admit to being grateful that the internet means not having to buy encyclopaedias or visit the library every week to do 'old-fashioned' research with them!)
@bellbird thank you! Such a different childhood this generation is living. I too am grateful for the internet when it comes to that research and finding homework help.
Amazing page, and I love the sentiment behind the photos ans questions! Greats have such a special place in my heart! My great was a fiery lady, and my grandmother is still making us crack up at 100! I love that she sent a letter after! That's so adorable! Your washi looks perfect and I love the layering!
