I like coming to Parco Ciani, it always surprises me
with the seasonal plants, autumnal colours against
the ever beautiful lake, its vibrant plantations of
bulbs in spring, its rich flower beds of allium &
hydrangea, its statues that come & go, once there
was a brass tomato, and then a sitting Voltaire,
who got constantly decorated with random hats, then
another time there was a loan from some museum of three
enormous columns that looked like the spines of humangous
dinosaurs or else aliens. They were over 3 metres tall, then
again one day they were not there, instead there was a big
clump of fully grown palm trees instead, and this year we
looked at them and nobody could believe that they weren't
there always. One time I remember a big marble structure
that didn't look like much, until one day we took a pedalo
on the water, and from a certain perspective there it was:
a marble profile of a man. & then we moved a bit & it was
gone like a mirage. I love coming to the park if & when the
summer is in full swing, and it's bustling with music bands
from Opera singers to street buskers, when Park & read
chairs are open, and you can borrow a book and sit in
the park while children are admiring the swans or just
running around. It is a place with its quiet heart beat
It is usually peaceful and serene, & I like it for
those times, too. A couple of years back it got all
dug up when John's work were laying the pipes
down for the cooling system for their new office
to keep the computers safe in a most ecologically
friendly way. And when they finished and filled
up all the trenches, they added the seed mix to the turf
so the following spring, as soon as the snow was gone, the
web of the pipelines turned into the rivers of crocuses &
snow drops that surely warmed up the hearts of even the
grumpiest locals who disapproved of the road works. We
used to come here a lot when the kids were small, to meet
the other foreigners with kids in the large playground, I
am surprised at myself for missing those times. You can
see the mountain behind me, this is the place I call home.
Thanks for the template, I enjoyed it very much, I used M.Martin's Don't be a square mini alpha, Dido's chevron and Fly like a bird balloon, and Paislee Press's 24 seven collab with Dido. TFL.
