Journaling:
October 11, 1942 - It was my parents’ day-after-the-wedding party for family in the backyard on Cortez Street. I love this candid shot of them. After they passed away, I ended up with Mom’s rings. The engagement ring was in sad shape. The shank was just a sliver of gold, it would cut someone attempting to wear it. And there was cookie dough surrounding the stones. The wedding ring somehow was in excellent shape. We had the engagement ring restored, and it is beautiful, a testament to the love they shared. The other day, I re-discovered the carved heart-shaped ring box that had once held Mom’s rings. So out came the camera to tell the story, 83 years later. Love perseveres.
This is just gorgeous Marilyn! What a special page and I love the photo of your parents, so much in love! I love that you got her engagement ring fixed and I giggled to hear there was still dough in and around the stones. I love that heart box they were in. What a special treasure you have here. (My mom never had an engagement ring (didn't feel it was necessary) and I have both her and my Dad's wedding rings. I also have my Aunt's (her sister and my "surrogate" mom) engagement and wedding ring.. all are special for me too..)
I really love how you scrapped this with the HMV 30 Caring collection as it is perfect for it.. your papers with the pop of black underneath really looks awesome and the page pops.. I can see this on the right side of your magazine book Hugs my friend!
This page is truly breathtakingly beautiful, every single piece perfectly placed. Your journaling testifies to their love. I'm so glad you had her ring repaired to it's original glory. What a bittersweet page. Bravo.
@cfile@trekmom Thank you both! The rings are in yellow gold, but I changed the photo to b&w because it just didn't look as good with the product. LOL. Mom & I had close to the same ring size, although she may have been a tad smaller? My brother ended up with Dad's ring. Dad was a machinist by trade, so he never wore his ring.
