Journal : The Clam coffee shop takes its name from the creek it is located in on the coast of the Oshika peninsula in Ishinomaki. The creek and the beach must have been very pretty before the tsunami devastated it and took with it the inhabitants houses. This old Japanese house, renovated and turned into a retro coffee shop, has survived because it's located on the flank of the mountain. It was the dream of a young couple to bring back life to this isolated creek but unfortunately it's the husband who decided to follow through alone after he lost his wife in the March 11th, 2013 disaster. He has friends and volunteers who help him. They plan to open in the near future a small pension and a camping site too. As for me, I will do my best to bring friends over there and make them discover this slightly exiled haven of peace and quiet that changes from the usual noisy and common places around here.
