It started out as the perfect afternoon in the park. Mom, Eric and you planned a picnic lunch at Riverside and time enjoying the sunshine while feeding the birds and ducks. The sun was shining when we left the house. We stopped by the local grocery store where we picked up sandwiches, drinks and chips. We arrived at the park with sun still shining and sat down at a table in the middle of the International Gardens. We had just finished our late afternoon lunch and were about to go feed the ducks when a freak storm hit. It was a complete white out! We could not see two feet in front of us! We held out the storm under the protection of the overhead for a good ten mins before the storm ended as quickly as it came! We then walked around the gardens before heading over to feed the hungry ducks some stale bread. And poof the monsoon like rain was back in full force! We ran again to cover this time in the La Crosse Queen waiting area. Again, the rain stopped after about ten mins of heavy rain. We got a good half an hour in of duck feeding and bird watching. It was fun to watch the ducks court. We saw one huge male duck totally chasing after a female and another three ducks all courting another female. We also saw some baby chicks that had just hatched. You and Eric had a mission to try and catch a few ducks. It was so funny to watch you two chase after them. You came so close quacking after them, but he male ducks were really protective of the female ducks they were courting and would quack back at you chasing you away. After all it was a very interesting afternoon and you learned a lot about ducks mating and about freak rain showers!
