Great-Egret-at-the-Mudflats

Description
JOURNALING: Located at the Hoover Reservoir in Galena OH, the Hoover Mudflats Boardwalk provides excellent opportunities to view local and migratory birds such as this Great Egret. This magnificent bird can be distinguished from other white egrets by its yellow bill and black legs and feet. They spear small fish, frogs, and small mammals with their long beak.

A manmade platform in the middle of the lake has been used for the last few years by an Osprey pair to build a nest. It was too late in the year for them to be in residence, however. 9/11/17
