Great-Blue-Heron

Description
JOURNALING: Our trip to the Mudflats at Hoover Preserve was quite amazing. One of the birds we saw was this beautiful Great Blue Heron. With Karon’s fantastic zoom camera, we were able to get some great shots.

The Great Blue Heron is the largest heron in North America.

They appear blue-gray from a distance, with a wide black stripe over the eye.

They stand about 3-4 feet tall with a wingspan of up to 6.5 feet.

They typically hold their necks in an “ S ” shape in flight.

They fish mainly in shallow areas walking slowly or standing absolutely still for long periods of time.

Their long necks and dagger like bills make them expert fishers.

:) :) Ha ha.. love this!! Glad you also saw the Great Blue Heron! They are so beautiful. We would fish for our "Wendell" in the canal, and it was always so much fun! Love this!!!

Beautiful pictures, interesting journaling. Your outfit is PERFECT for the colors of this layout.

ooh nice - love the paper and card choices to complement your herons striking colours - we have a grey-ish heron that visits in our yard a few times a week (probably more but we don't always notice - we think he may be trying to check out our goldfish pond (its covered in netting and has a ton of plants in it) and apparently they are quiet adaptable to suburban life (we live near a few large man made ponds); i love that they look quiet majestic but also awkward and gangly at the same time!
