Granny Loved her Johnnies

I created this layout for the October Template Challenge with a photo of a painting I found while walking between concourses at PDX. My father's mother was often said to love her johnnies so they remind me of her.
Description
I used the free template from nini goes digi Template 63 and also her A Year in Bloom Tulips bundle.
Love the wood alpha and background...this feels very Japanese to me, like the art of flower arranging they have, Ikebana.

Thank you. That part of this is probably more me than her. Her Johnny Jump-ups grew close to the ground in swaths of color.

Just delightful. We call them pansies. I love them too. Lovely take on the challenge.
Yes, so many do call them pansies in Oregon also. Finding the title to be Johnny Jump-ups was part of the fun for me. Thanks.

I had to look up Johnnies but should have read the comments here...we call them pansies too. And my grandmother loved them. She lived in Jasper which has a cool climate but the pansies loved it and grew so big and bloomed all summer. Love that you brought that memory to mind with your page, thank you! :beat Love the colours you chose to scrap these and how you pulled in the black with the circle cutout paper. Gorgeous!

I followed your path to google and learned that Johnny Jump-Ups are actually edible and considered a wild pansy. They look similar except for the stem height and size. I'm glad Granny loved Johnnies since saying Granny loved her Pansies might sound a bit strange today. Thanks for sharing your memories of the flowers.
