Journaling reads: The Grand Hotel Moderne was built in 1896 by the family of Bernadette Soubirous. It stands just 100 meters from the shrine of Notre Dame in the center of the historic pilgrims' destination of Lourdes. The Baroque facade, the lobby furnishings, crystal chandeliers and the Grand Staircase were breathtakingly preserved. Our rooms all had BALCONIES in them and we took advantage of the picturesque view and the imposing facade and snapped several photos.
