For the BYOC June Challenge here-
The photo we took in one of the trips to Bahia (where we used to live when Sarita was a toddler) the journaling is in Portuguese, but reads more or less like this: The barge from Porto Seguro (this is the north east place where the Portuguese discovered Brazil in 1500) to Arraial D'Ajuda was the only way to get across the river to get to Arraial & Trancoso until 1999 (there is a land route that was built then for the Millennium and 500 years of Brazil but we would take the barge anyway, the land route adds some 25/30 minutes drive), Until the airport was built in Porto Seguro (I think it was 1992) the only way to get to Porto was by bus, and I remember the bus terminal was in front of the barge, and I still remember the first time I arrived there after Monica & Gustavo moved there (we were all living in Rio) We got the pedestrian small boat as they didn't have a car, there was no point on waiting for the car's barge as the wait was longer, the area was already a hyper touristic destination, even though these were places with no much of what you would call comfort then. It was late evening of a wonderful summer, and I remember being speechless in front of so much beauty, a sky full of stars much better than any Van Gogh painting, the air would fill your lungs with that pure nature perfume, the silence a blessing broken only by the crickets and the hum of the boat in the water, and the music, soft though, coming from the Japanese restaurant in front of the barges, someone singing live with just a guitar. The way the area grew in the following 10 years would leave me speechless again when I took Andy in 1993, and even more so. huge changes some 5 years after when we moved to Trancoso and even more drastic ones after we left....sometimes it even hurts to think (and see) how "progress" can finish with beauty, nature, peace and good will...still, if it was possible, I would get on a plane now just for another ride in that barge at sunset TFL!!!
@Iowan thank you !!!!!! journaling is in Portuguese no wonder you couldn't read it!!! I ll translate before pposting, is the barge that goes from Porto Seguro to Arraial D'Ajuda , then you drive another 45 minutes and you are in Trancoso where we used to live. Is the whole story of how the barge was the only way for years until end of 1999 and how progress destroyed the paradise that the area was, I ll do it properly tomorrow
@MrsPeel wow, what great journaling, what wonderful memories of a quieter time and I’m amazed with all the details you remembered. I can see why you wold want to go back. TFS

You know I love all your pages. This one has something that attracks me and makes me look at it again and again. I loved your journaling: "sky full of stars much better than any Van Gogh painting", it spoke to my heart!
Gorgeous photo! Love the softness of your layout and that you chose colors that highlight your photo! Your bottom cluster on the journaling card is perfect! Amazing layout!
