"Thirty one years ago I made a decision that was very difficult. I moved away from my close friends. I wanted to party too much. I knew I wasn't living up to my full potential. I didnt know what else to do except join my mom in Arizona. I was 19 years old. I needed the guidance of my mother. The mistake I made was not staying in contact with my friends. They reached out to me and I didnt respond. The only thing I knew was to stay away from the actions and people that were part of the party lifestyle. If I had the chance to do it all over again, I know I would still move to be with my mom; but I would stay in contact with my dear friends. I know it hurt them deeply and it changed me as a person...holding back from friendships through the years because I didnt want to experience more loss. One friendship still hasnt healed from all that time and I dont know if it ever will. This story is about the friendship that is on the mend, and Im so thankful!
Facebook is a wonderful tool. I found Sherie. After catching up a bit, she was still the girl I remember. Sherie is full of life. She loves, gives, listens, encourages, forgives, and remains positive even though she is having some struggles of her own. I regret missing out on her life. I missed her wedding, her children. I miss all the fun times we could have had.
Now it's time to move forward together. I visited Idaho this last year and I got to see my Sherie! It was as if thirty one years was only one day. I immediately felt the bond. I wished it vould have been longer than that day. I hope we can see each other again soon.
The connection, the unexpected twist? Marita. Marita is a beautiful, kind, fun loving soul. She loves beautiful flowers, trees, and bushes. I remember her being this way even thirty one years ago. I've always loved her amazingness. She welcomed me back into Sherie's life and her life with loving, open arms. Marita is Sherie's mother. I gained two beautiful friendships this past year and it has opened up something in me that is healing. Thank you is not enough.
