@AnneofAlamo LOL i don't understand "Aussie Rules Football" or Rugby League or Rugby Union either, all i know is in gridiron there's a bunch of guys in all this padding and helmet gear, whereas here, all the players are in shorts and singlets - i think the similarity stops at the fact that there's a ball (not a sphere -again not understanding why they even call it that!) (Hope the little guys like in the photos aren't as rough b/cos it doesnt look like there's much padding!)

@bellbird We started my four year old (now 5) in flag football. Normally there would be padding and head gear but it's supposed to teach you how to play. They were pretty rough for a group of tiny kids

@MrsGaramer soccer is the highest participation rate kids sport here - that's rough enough for most - lucky they have shin pads
